Toledo , Spain

The objectives of the Special Plan for the Old Quarter of Toledo included the need to equip the city with large infrastructures to solve the problem of accessibility to the historical monuments and allow car parks to be built. The solution provided access via ThyssenKrupp's escalators, which are at one of the city's most symbolic access routes, Paseo de Recaredo and the Puerta de Bisagra, the former and current entrance to Toledo from Madrid. It was voted "Elevator World" Project of the Year 2002/2003.
